Our first aid courses are designed and developed for rural and regional parents and other carers of newborns, infants and toddlers.

Parents in Albury Wodonga face unique challenges when it comes to emergencies.

Environmental factors in rural and regional areas can pose unique risks, and the hospital and medical system in the area can sometimes be completely overwhelmed, with long emergency wait times.

About your instructor

Jeremy Smith is a highly experienced paramedic and paramedic trainer who has managed real-world paediatric emergencies throughout his career.

As well as his on-road experience, he was a senior paramedic trainer for the Australian Defence Force in Wodonga.

Jeremy is deeply passionate about teaching lifesaving first aid training to parents, especially in the North East, where he grew up.

Kids are naturally curious and often suffer injuries in the home due to their inquisitive nature. The leading causes of injury in young children include falls, burns, traffic accidents and animal bites. We teach you how to confidently manage these and other critical situations.

Calling for help and what to expect

Calling for help during an emergency can be extremely stressful. We know what it’s like from the other end of the phone and on the other side of the Emergency Department door. We share our insider knowledge so you know what to expect when you call 000 or when you get to ED at the hospital.

Confidence with performing CPR & back blows

To help you learn, we use industry-leading QCPR manikins with realistic features and the average physiology and anatomy of a child. The manikins are connected to an iPad via bluetooth to offer real-time feedback on your CPR performance. Practicing in this way gives you muscle memory for effective CPR, building your confidence.

Bites, stings and poisonings

Australia has lots of creepy crawlies - some cause painful bites but most aren’t poisonous. Learn which bites are bad and what to do if your child has been bitten.

Most infant poisonings are from prescription medications - learn the signs to help recognise when your little one’s curiosity has gotten the better of them.
